WANNA PINT GLASS OF GARNATXABEER?

I strongly recommend you to write it down in your agenda the appointment by the 8, 9 and 10th of march . The Barcelona Beer Festival (BBF) will became again this  year a truly special event where the beer lovers can taste craft beer from all over the world (trust on me, because God trusts on you guys!). BBF is an organized event during which a variety of beers are available for tasting and purchase.  it will take place at Barcelona Beer Festival, Cúpula Las Arenas, Barcelona, www.barcelonabeerfestival.com. There you can taste a wide range of beers, usually craft-brewed in a variety of different styles by various brewers. Craft beers offered at the festival come  from a particular area of the world beer scene, with a particular brewing style such as the impressive grape juice fermented ales.

Here is where I would like to highlight the new creation of a grape fermented craft-beer style amongst all beers. Sort of like beer belongs to  the company PRIORATBEER& Co. It appeared in late’s June in the Priorat wine growing region in its wine fair, as result of a synergy from a group of friends, winemakers and beer lovers to create a beer with a special touch of the Priorat. This project was born with the aim to create a new style of beer. A new trend in terms of product and communication in the world of beer as we convey our emotions involved in each process: wine, communication skills and development. PrioratBeer is the result of the vitality, passion and quality of five professionals, 5 figures that vibrate and create a melody. PrioratBeer is the result of an emotional involvement and overcoming ideas to create a new trend in terms of product and rock and roll in the beer communication’s world.

It represents the sensuality of Garnatxa, the most well-known old native vine growing in the Priorat and from such others well-renowned winegrowing areas of the world.  The idea of making a craft beer like Garnatxabeer that everyone can touch, makes sense in the Priorat, where both, wine lovers and those who still prefer a good beer instead of wine,  can coexist with dignity and without prejudice!  BBF offers you the possibility to enter a young world, even though directed with energy and enthusiasm to make you enjoy with good beer!!

Prioratbeer & Co creators – Toni Sánchez, Santi Torrella, Xavi Vaqué, Carol Van Waart and Laia Abadal, have stepped up their game. They can’t compete using terms like “tradition” and “brewing history” —they haven’t been brewing as a tradition but do make the most dynamic and exciting beer in the world by melding classic brewing techniques with local and innovative ingredients like Garnatxa as well as using French oak to age the beer.

I would like to add that this Spanish craft brewers start out financially disadvantaged (because they’re usually startups built from passion) and communicatively disadvantaged (because they lack the massive marketing budgets a domestic beer has).

Since localism has become such an important factor, Spanish microbreweries have become hometown heroes. Local breweries aren’t just making some of the best beer out there; they’re doing it in our own backyard.

Since 2007, even as our economy has struggled, craft beer has become far more pervasive all over Spain. During these economic times of Crisis, people aren’t dinning in much restaurant as they used to do but they are drinking beer it because it’s quality. Craft beer represents a kind of egalitarian connoisseurship that is rare.

So now that great beer is being made in the Priorat, and some people is starting to make the difference between an IPA and lager, why has the craft beer movement created such interest? The most important change happening now is that the casual beer from the garaje has stepped to the dining room. So, now you can have dinner and order a craft, like Garnatxabeer! Isn’t it fun??The knowledge that I learnt from the winemaking world, where I really dedicate the vast majority of my time, diners are learning how beer seamlessly pairs with food, complementing flavors and aroma.

I do not accept at all the idea of  “which is better” a beer or a wine, but I will say that beer has a lot more play in the interaction of body and astringency than wine, simply because wine is made from the fermentation of one component (grapes) whereas beer has a bittering ingredient (hops) added to its fermented component (grain). As such, with the wide array of tapas you can find in the Spanish bars, the mutable astringency of beer has an easier time to marry the local food.

As the beer revolution continues, it seems the quality wine concept learnt from the past is going to be applied also in the case of beer. More and more restaurants to will include beer in the lists alongside their wine lists. We are in a golden era of development and refinement, and to that, I order a pint of Garnatxabeer, of course.
